Maryland Kids Fined $500 For Setting Up A Lemonade Stand Without A Permit At U.S. Open!

The worst part is, the young boys were trying to raise money for a cancer society! Can you believe this?!

One of the boys’ mother, Carrie Marriott, told a local news station, “This gentleman from the county is now telling us because we don’t have a vendor’s license, the kids won’t be allowed to sell their lemonade.” Understandable, but can’t you just send them on their merry way WITHOUT fining them!?

Even though Carrie told the officer the money raised was being donated to pediatric cancer, the officer STILL issued the fine.

The officer pointed to the many coolers of lemonade the boys had and said, “Cute little kids making five or ten dollars is a little bit different than making hundreds. You’ve got coolers and coolers here.”

Meanwhile, down the road from the U.S. Open, people are paying the government over $300 for the right to charge others to park on their lawn. One man told a reporter he’s making enough money this week to put his daughter through a year of college! People are charging up to $60 A DAY for parking spots on their front lawn! Would you let people drive all over your garden just to make a buck??

Carrie said she doesn’t see a difference between people charging money to park on their lawns and boys selling lemonade for a good cause. “The message to kids is, there’s no American dream,” she said.

What do you think? We know rules are rules, but couldn’t the county just have let this one slide? Especially since it’s for a good cause!
