HollywoodLife.com consulted with an expert who believes J.K. Rowling’s ‘Pottermore’ will be an online community for Harry Potter Fans! Would YOU join?
Without much fan fare, the website Pottermore.com suddenly popped up out of nowhere — and if you click on the right owl, you’re taken to a mysterious YouTube video posted by author J.K. Rowling: a countdown to an “announcement.” So what’s the big secret?
HollywoodLife.com consulted with Annika Heinle — one of the world’s leading Harry Potter experts and a student at both Stanford and Oxford Universities, where she’s studying J.K. Rowling’s works — and she believes ‘Pottermore’ will provide the ultimate Harry Potter experience for die-hard fans.
“I think ‘Pottermore’ is going to be an extremely well-developed and Rowling-approved online community for Harry Potter fans,” Heinle said, explaining, “The movie websites have provided content like games and movie trailers, but there’s no one place on the internet that is interactive and magical enough to be considered a great Harry Potter website.”
She added, “Since the movies are almost over and the first book published 15 years ago, a community with interactive elements like games, encyclopedias, forums and contests is a great way to keep fans actively hooked.”
Whether ‘Pottermore’ is a new website, a fan community — or (fingers crossed!) a new series, we’ll find out either way when J.K. makes her announcement next Wednesday, June 22.
