The pop singer talks about her violent childhood, recent scandals, and future in the entertainment industry in a revealing interview in this month’s ‘W’ magazine!
Christina Aguilera has had a rough year! Between her divorce, arrest, lyric-flubbing, and stage-tripping, the public has been focusing more on her mistakes than her music. But with her gig on The Voice, a new boyfriend, and a happy home life, Christina tells W magazine of her plans to get back on top! Read the diva’s memorable quotes from the article- and why she’s not a fan of American Idol!
Christina opened up about her March arrest for public intoxication, which she received while sitting in the passenger seat of a car. “I think I was a victim of celebrity. I don’t drive, I wasn’t driving, and I committed no crimes, but they put me in jail,” she asserted. “I think they were bored that night.” Uh-oh, somebody’s angry!
Christina also touched on some heavier subjects like her tough childhood and her divorce, as well as her future in the music business. And The Voice coach weighed in on why she never watched Idol!
On her childhood: I felt caged by my childhood. And unsafe. Bad things happened in my home; there was violence.
On her divorce and raising her son: At one time or another, we were both not angels. It got to a point where our life at home was reminding me of my own childhood. I will not have my son grow up in a tension-filled home.
On American Idol: It’s too mean. Why would anyone want to go on a show to be ripped apart? I don’t want to be tough with my singers, but I do want to tell them on The Voice that if you really want this, you’ll be kicked when you’re down. You have to be willing to roll with those punches. You have to really want it.
On her future in the music business: I would never go down without a fight. I still have my eyes on the prize: I want to be that old lady onstage shaking her hips and singing her greatest hits.
