Americans Have Stopped Having Babies! Is The Economy To Blame?

Births in the U.S. have fallen for the third year in a row — to the lowest level since data was first recorded!

A little over four million babies bounced into the world in 2010 — 3 percent fewer than three years before. Even teen pregnancies are down! Experts say the recession means people CAN’T AFFORD to have kids!

The lull certainly ties in with economic downturn.

Births had been on the rise for years until the country was rocked by recession in December 2007. And that’s exactly when we all stopped making babies!

New stats released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show teen pregnancies dropped sharply. Five percent fewer 15-19 years olds had babies in 2010 compared to a decade earlier!

In fact the only people having babies are the over 40s — people more likely to be financial secure, and in a hurry to get pregnant while their biological clocks still tick!

Do these figures surprise you, HollyMoms? Have you had to put off your baby plans because of the recession? Share your thoughts with us below!
