If you adopt a puppy like R-Patz & K-Stew or Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, do you have a better shot at lasting love?
Both Robert Pattinson and girlfriend Kristen Stewart as well as Kim Kardashian and fiance Kris Humphries have adopted totally adorable doggies in recent weeks. Does this mean that their relationships have gone way beyond the point of puppy love?
Rob, 25, recently adopted his scruffy German Shepard mix, Bear, from a shelter in Louisiana, while it appears that Kim, 30, and Kris, 26, bought their tiny, fluffy animal in California. You can debate amongst yourselves which dog is cuter, but a puppy still says the same thing for both relationships: commitment.
Both couples travel a crazy amount. Rob and Kristen have homes, but for the most part, seem to be living in and out of hotels. A dog needs a stable place to live and it’s a huge testament to these relationships that they can take care of another living being while on the road so much.
When said couples are in the same place, I can only hope they’re caring for their mutual dogs together. Animals are big steps in not only relationship responsibility, but in maturity development. Having to watch over an animal as needy as a dog — including feeding, walking, attention — makes you grow up a bit.
If you’re adopting a puppy as a couple, that’s a great sign. It’s almost as big as moving in together. You’re take a leap of faith as a couple. A lot of times, dog adoption is a good way of determining whether or not you’re ready for a child. Given that K-Stew and R-Patz are actually having a baby onscreen in their fourth upcoming Twilight flick, Breaking Dawn, and Kim has frequently gushed that she wants children of her own, I’d say these two couples are well on their way!
