President Barack Obama tells Ann Curry that US Rep Anthony Weiner can’t serve as effectively as he needs to, and “should probably step back”.
Anthony Weiner, your time is up. President Barack Obama was asked by Today Show’s Ann Curry about the scandal with Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner and he made a pretty powerful statement. “I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign.” Will this be a final signal to Weiner that he should resign his seat at Congress?
“When you get to the point where, because of various personal distractions, you can’t serve as effectively as you need to, at the time when people are worrying about jobs, and their mortgages, and paying the bills – then you should probably step back,” Obama told Ann in an interview airing tomorrow. He called the Congressman’s actions “high inappropriate” and said he “embarrassed himself” by sending sexually explicit photos to various women online.
The NY Representative has taken a leave of absence from Congress and is attending a sexual rehabilitation center. His wife, Huma is pregnant with their first child.
