Photos of a five-day-old Willow Sage on Malibu beach with her mom and dad have provoked a storm of criticism online.
Other parents claim Pink and Carey Hart should have the tiny tot tucked up at home while she’s still SO YOUNG. But, what do you think?
When photos first appeared of baby Willow barely out of the maternity ward and on the beach, internet users bombarded online forums to complain.
One angry mom wrote: “Ok, I like Pink and all, but why would you take a newborn to the beach????? After having my kids I didn’t take them anywhere for like 3 weeks!!!!” Another agreed: “PINK! Not good! The baby is WAY too little to take her the beach”
But when is the right time to take your baby outside for the first time?
Pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Shue says a quiet beach is the BEST place to introduce your infant to the outside world.
Dr. Shue tells HollyBaby.com, “Great for parents to take babies out, particularly to the beach, which isn’t a closed space packed with germs.”
So long as you wrap your baby up! She adds, “In the first 6 months skin is extra delicate so you have to to be extra careful. Sun exposure early in life can cause skin cancer.”
Pediatrician Dr. Steve Martel agrees “there’s no ‘right’ time for taking a newborn out into the public” so long as you are extra careful and take precautions.
He tells HollyBaby.com, “Most pediatricians recommend resting during the first few weeks. If venturing out, it is important to take proper precautions to protect the baby from exposure to potential infectious agents and minimize the number of people in public in contact with the baby,” he says. “With regard to the beach, it is essential to avoid direct sun exposure as babies’ skin is more quick to burn than an adult’s skin.”
What do you think, HollyMoms. The experts have given Pink and Carey the thumbs up, but do you agree?
