'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood: 'I Don't Condone The Violence In Mob Wives!'

‘Mob Wives’ is one of Amber’s favorite shows, the Italian American tells exclusively that the women might even know some of her extended family! Who knew?

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, who plead guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery on June 9, has learned her lesson that it’s not ok to beat someone up on national television. And even though she loves the new VH1 hit series Mob Wives — starring Renee Graziano, Carla Facciolo, Karen Gravano and Drita D’avanzo — she now knows that it’s not a good idea to promote violence.

“That’s one of my favorite shows because it’s real,” Amber tells exclusively. “I think it is a good show, but I don’t condone the violence in it of course.”

But Amber also explains how some fights happen on TV. “You might see a fight, but there’s so much more behind that fight than you can ever know,” she says. “Just imagine how much illegal stuff they have to edit out of the show, especially with something called Mob Wives.”

“You can’t depict [judge] somebody by what you see on TV,” she continues. “The truth is not always going to be out there. There’s always going to be stuff that is behind the scenes that 90% of the time that nobody will ever know. That’s what happened with me and Gary [Shirley] when I hit him. There was a major issue between me and Gary, which is the reason why I got physical with him — which will come out this season [in Teen Mom by the way].”

Still Amber gives the Mob Wives props for being so real. “Within the lifestyle they live, that is not crazy,” notes Amber. “It’s different. [But] everybody has a different life.”

And she’s obsessed with them! “I love them,” Amber gushes. “Mob Wives is real and the fact that they don’t hold anything back, I think is a great thing. I don’t condone the violence of them hitting each other but I do praise them for them being so real. I can see it because from what I do and what I’ve been doing for three years and watching them, it makes me feel like OK there’s another show out there that’s actually real.”

Amber even relates to the Staten Island women. “I am Italian,” she says. “Tell them they need to meet me because I want to talk to them about some family. Seriously you think I’m joking, but I want to talk to them about family. My family is from New York to Chicago to Florida, they’ll probably know who I am related to. I would really love to meet them.”

“Can you not hear my accent a little bit?” adds Amber. “I live in Indiana and I have an accent a little bit. When my crew comes from New York, they make fun of me. They hear it.”
