The First Daughters may lead a privileged life, but their powerful mom and dad make sure they’re not pampered and spoiled.
President Barack Obama shares his parenting approach in a new Father’s Day-inspired address, revealing he’s determined to make a better father than his own dad, who left when he was just two-years-old.
“I grew up without a father around. He left when I was 2 years old. I always felt his absence and wondered what it would have been like if he had been a greater presence in my life. I still do,” The President writes in People magazine.
“It’s perhaps for this reason that fatherhood is so important to me, and why I’ve tried so hard to be there for my own children.”
But don’t think Malia, 12 and Sasha, 9, get it easy, just because their dad had a tough upbringing!
He adds, “They may live in the White House, but Michelle and I still make sure they do their chores, make their beds, finish their schoolwork and take care of the dog.”
It’s great to see he’s keeping his daughters’ feet on the ground!
