The accused killer-mom told police a string of elaborate and ‘convincing’ lies when they questioned her about the disappearance of her daughter Caylee.
Besides lying about a fictional babysitter she claimed had kidnapped her toddler, Casey also told Detective Yuri Melich she worked at Universal Studios and even took police on a tour of her ‘workplace’ before admitting she made the whole thing up!
Detective Melich took to the stand on June 2 to describe his first interview of Casey Anthony, 25, in July 2008. He told the court he was struck by the “very convincing” nature of Casey claims under intense interrogation.
Jurors were played an interview tape in which Casey described how Caylee was kidnapped by babysitter Zenaida Gonzalez. She said: “This is the honest to God’s truth. I don’t know where she is. The last person that I saw her with is Zenaida.”
Melich was heard replying to her: “Listen, we know that’s not true. We already know that you’re not telling us the truth. You know what happened to Caylee – and you know where Caylee is.”
He later gave her the opportunity to tell the truth about her daughter’s disappearance telling her, “I can look at you as a person who’s scared, or we can look at you as cold, callous and a monster who doesn’t care. It’s gonna be one of those two options.”
Casey — who shook her head and sighed as the tape was played — maintained throughout her interview the babysitter was responsible. But her legal team has since admitted Zenaida Gonzalez does not exist.
Casey is on trial for the first degree murder of two year old Caylee, who disappeared in 2008. She faces the death penalty if convicted.

I will never believe Casey is innocent. She waited a month to report her daughter missing, partied while volunteers searched for daughters, and had told numerous lies. She needs to be put in jail for the rest of her life.
