Watch Rihanna’s new video & tell us what you think she’s trying to say!
Rihanna may be on the road to forgiving Chris Brown for savagely beating her back in 2009, but the video for her new single “Man Down” shows us a very different side of Rihanna, one that’s not only unforgiving, but vengeful. Granted, the video is not a direct send-up of the Chris Brown incident — Rihanna’s character is presumably raped outside a nightclub — but the emotions are the same. She’s hurt, she’s angry, and oh yes… she’s got a gun.
“Young girls/women all over the world…we are a lot of things!” Rihanna tweeted following the video’s release. “We’re strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naïve! We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and #listentoyomama! I love you and I care!”
Rihanna’s words to her fans seem to connect the dots between her video and her tumultuous past, but maybe we’re being presumptuous. Watch the video for yourself and tell us what YOU think:
