The two-year-old girl was playing near an open window in her New York apartment on a sweltering Memorial Day when she fell 50 feet to the sidewalk below.
She only survived her terrifying tumble thanks to a paramedic who happened to be passing by! How was she able to fall in a city where it’s the LAW for windows to be guarded?
Off-duty paramedic Willis Sands thought the toddler was a doll at first until he realized she was breathing and leaped into action.
“I looked down and I saw the baby shaking,” Willis tells NBC news, “(there was) blood underneath the baby.”
He stabilized her and and stopped the bleeding before calling for back-up. The toddler was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is said to be recovering.
Some neighbors told NBC News the toddler’s dad had removed the guards to install an air conditioning unit, but others claimed there were never guards in place and children could often be seen “hanging” out of the window!
