They will be headed all over Canada before they fly to Los Angeles!
William, 28, and Kate, 29, have carefully planned out a trip to better get to know the country, and the dates for the excursion have been posted on the official Canadian 2011 Royal Tour blog:
• The National Capital Region, from June 30 to July 2
• Montreal, Quebec, on July 2
• Quebec City, Quebec, on July 3
• Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, from July 3 to July 4
• Summerside, Prince Edward Island, on July 4
• Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, from July 4 to July 6
• Calgary, Alberta, from July 6 to July 8
“This royal visit will be on a size and scale like nothing Canada has seen perhaps since the visit that happened in 1986 for the opening of Expo 86 in Vancouver, when Prince Charles and Princess Diana visited,” Canada’s Heritage Minister James Moore said.
While a more specific itinerary will be released in mid-June, HollywoodLife.com‘s already learned some of the details: William and Kate will be in Ottawa on Canada Day, which marks the country’s birthday, and will take part in the public festivities on Parliament Hill. “We expect tens of thousands of people to come out,” Moore said. “It will be in fact, I think, perhaps the largest Canada Day celebration in history on Parliament Hill.”
While in Calgary, the Royals will attend the opening of the Calgary Stampede, an annual rodeo, festival and exhibition. There is also buzz that the newlyweds will visit the Calgary airfield where the Duchess’s late grandfather, Peter Middleton, trained pilots during the Second World War.
And back in Prince Edward Island, it’s expected that Kate’s childhood attachment to the book series “Anne of Green Gables” inspired the stop in Summerside, where the fictional character was said to live.
This sounds like an incredible trip — but we’re sure it won’t have the ridiculous glitz and glamor awaiting them in Los Angeles!
