In the battle of the country music singers on ‘American Idol,’ 17-year-old Scotty McCreery beat Lauren Alaina for the title! Were YOU happy?
We couldn’t have had a more wholesome final two on American Idol season 10 if we tried. Not only were Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina the youngest final two in the show’s history, but both of them were good-natured, talented and sweet — either would have made fantastic Idols. However, when Scotty, 17, was declared winner, we couldn’t help but be thrilled with the results.
First of all, Scotty dominated this season with his classic country crooner voice, laid back attitude and crooked grin. He was the only contestant to never land in the bottom three — and that says something about his popularity.
Not only was Scotty spot on most every night, but his positive image is refreshing. It’s rare to see someone in the spotlight be so humble and sincere. We never felt like Scotty was putting on an act — everything he did was simple, easy and completely him.
Regardless of whether or not we’re country fans, we have to appreciate what Scotty brings to the table — he loves music, he stays true to himself and he doesn’t take himself too seriously. All in all, Scotty is a class act and there couldn’t be a more fitting person to become our new American Idol.
