The First Lady joined musics heavyweights Lady Gaga, Bono and more to congratulate Beyonce.
Michelle Obama offered very kind words about the singer in a moving video tribute that aired at last night’s Billboard Music Awards.
“Beyonce, in addition to being just a beautiful young woman, she’s been a role model and a powerful presence for young girls and women all around the world,” Michelle said in the video that played before B’s showstopping ‘Run the World (Girls)’ performance.
“I am very proud of her, very proud of the woman that she is, the role model she provides to so many women. And I truly congratulate her tonight on all her success,” Obama added.
Beyonce, who sang for the Obamas at the inauguration ball in 2009, received the Billboard Millenium Artist award during the ceremony.
