A former contestant told Ashley that Bentley’s coming on the show to ‘promote his job!’ Will Ashley still be blindsided by this man’s charm and good looks?
Ashley Hebert was heartbroken when Bachelor Brad Womack sent her packing. But now that she’s getting her own chance to find love as ABC’s new Bachelorette. Will she be lucky this time around? Ashley has already be warned that one contestant — Bentley Williams — is on the show for the wrong reasons. Will Ashley foolishly fall for this man’s superficial charm?
“I’m scared some of the guys watched last season and coming into it are like, ‘Eh, it’s Ashley,'” Ashley tells host Chris Harrison. “And another thing is I’m very concerned that some of the guys aren’t coming on here for me or the possibility of falling in love.”
Ashley knows that she must keep her eye on Bentley. “I spoke to a past contestant — somebody that I was close to in the house — and they made me aware that somebody that’s coming on the show is here for not a good intention,” Ashley explains. “She’s friends with his ex-wife. His name is Bentley. Apparently he’s coming on the show to promote his job. It might not be true.”
But is Ashley swept away by Bentley as soon as he gets out of the limo? “He’s really good looking,” she tells Chris.
“My strategy going into this is talk to her about what I’m feeling about my daughter and missing her — I’m going to win,” Bentley tells the cameras.
Bentley tries to convince Ashley of his sincerity. “I think I’m definitely in a healthy spot, if that’s what you’re kind of worried about,” he says. “If I wasn’t, I wouldnt be here. I wouldn’t be away from everything that I have back at home, including my daughter.”
His lies seem to work on Ashley. “I’m so confused,” she admits. “On one hand, I really want to question him and ask him straight out, ‘Is this true?’ On the other hand, everything inside of me is telling me that he’s sincere. I’m staying open. I’m going to believe what he says as opposed to what I’ve been hearing.”
Too bad Ashley doesn’t hear Bentley say this to the cameras: “I can tell you right now it’s not going to work. To be honest, I could almost care less. Things could have turned out differently if The Bachelorette was Emily [Maynard].”
Yikes! Be sure to check out the season premiere of The Bachelorette on ABC on May 23!
