Watch Katie’s final broadcast on ‘CBS Evening News’ — are you going to miss her now that she’s done?
After five years, Katie Couric – the first solo female anchor on a network’s evening news — had her last run with CBS Evening News on May 19.
“As many of you know, this is my final broadcast on the Evening News,” Katie, 54, said. “It’s been an extraordinary privilege to sit in this chair and a real honor to work with so many talented people, here at CBS News.”
CBS showed a montage of all the incredible work Katie did for the network — including interviewing President Barack Obama, former President George W. Bush and Alex Rodriguez and covering the Virginia Tech Shooting, the troops posted in Iraq and the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton — as a tribute.
“To all of you watching, thank you so much for coming a long with me on this incredible journey,” Katie smiled as she said goodbye for the final time. “That’s the CBS Evening News for tonight. I’m Katie Couric. Goodnight.”
Scott Pelley will be replacing Katie starting June 6. And as to Katie’s next venture, according to the Los Angeles Times, she is in the process of securing her own talk show on with ABC daytime.
