Police are continuing their investigation into the mysterious death of a four to six-year-old boy, whose body was found deserted on a remote road in Maine.
Authorities believe the tragic youngster’s body may have been dumped on the side of the road by someone with military connections. And it might even be his mother!
Police were looking into a navy blue Toyota Tacoma truck, which was spotted near the crime scene before the body was found on Saturday, May 14 in South Berwick, Maine. Now, an eyewitness says they saw a military insignia on the license plate and a woman behind the driver’s seat — a woman who could very well be the little boy’s mother.
“We’re really starting to wonder if the individual involved with this truck is a member of the military,” Sgt. Brian McDonough tells the Daily Mail.
“We’re starting to think that way because we just got no information from any neighbors, any family members. … Maybe these people are … assigned a temporary duty in the military and aren’t that well known or embedded into the community and again would have family outside of the state or outside of the region.”
“There’s really no explanation for this,” he adds, “how nobody can report this child is missing. To me, it’s unthinkable.”
Authorities say that the blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy was clean, appeared well nourished and was fully-clothed in items that looked to be relatively new.
Investigators have taken mitochondrial DNA from the boy in hopes of scanning it through databases and finding a family match.
