During their freshman year at St. Andrew’s University, it was love at first sight for Prince William and Kate Middleton!

The two started cozying-up to one another during dorm parties at St. Salvatore’s Hall. And according to roommates and friends, Wiliam “won” her heart — literally — when he paid $320 in a charity auction to keep Kate all to himself the whole night at a party!

A mutual friend of the royal couple, Laura Warshauer, tells the Daily Mail, “We all got on a big bus to go [to the Harry Potter party] and I remember Kate and William dancing together all night.”

“‘No one else was winning Kate that night. They already had that connection,” she says.

How romantic! That’s some truly long-lasting chemistry for the young royal lovebirds!
