While his family’s Lenox, Iowa home was torn to shreds by a twister, the quick thinking pre-teen sought shelter in an unusual place.
Austin Miller climbed inside the laundry room dryer at the instruction of his mom, who was trapped two blocks away, trying to race home to rescue him!“I mean I was like two blocks away”, Jessica Miller tells WAPT.com, “I could not get here. It was like the worst feeling, I can’t even explain.”
Trapped by debris from two tornadoes which had whipped through her neighborhood, Jessica hatched a plan to protect her son.
When she finally pulled into her driveway, Jessica was stunned to find the roof ripped off her house, the windows all smashed — but her son safe and sound, tucked away in the dryer!
What a great ending to a terrifying tale!
