‘Who cares about the paparazzi, I’m thrilled with my life!’ That’s Taylor’s attitude and what a fantastic attitude it is from such a big star!
The incredibly mature 21 year-old told Ellen DeGeneres on her show on May 11: “I think it’s just so obnoxious if I complain about anything… I hear people talk about like, ‘Oh, the intrusions on my privacy.’ It’s like there are a million other jobs you could have had. And for me, I’ve just come to an acceptance of the fact that this is my life, and if somebody wants to hide a relationship or has privacy issues, then we don’t have the same view point. Cause for me, it’s just like, live your life. If people happen to take pictures, you laugh about it in the car afterward.”
Wow! Is that a non- Hollywood response to having a public life or what? It’s impressive.
Taylor, you said this in response to Ellen empathizing that it must be so hard to have relationships and heartbreak in “public.” But instead of agreeing, you just shrugged and rolled your eyes while you made it clear that you have NO reason to be pitied. That you appreciate the blessings that your talent and fame brings and that you love your fans.
Ellen then pointed out that “you have to be with somebody on the same page,” and you agreed.
“I think it’s about what your idea of normalcy is. For me it’s living my life and going to the same coffee shops I did four years ago. It’s about living my life and having my career and not getting too consumed with either one. It’s about balance!”
Well said Taylor. That’s such a healthy attitude. Why should you stop living your life the way you want to, just because you’re a star.
But is this one of the reasons you split from Jake Gyllenhaal, who rented out a whole movie theatre in Nashville, so you two could see Tangled together…in privacy?
Jake isn’t exactly historically paparazzi-friendly. But you did take him to your favorite Nashville coffee spots so you could hang out just like ‘normal folks’. Was that too tough for him?
Maybe it’s because you’re so refreshingly down-to-earth that you were so concerned about victims of the Alabama tornados. “We had some very scary days in Nashville- dancers and band members were getting texts and photos of cyclones in their backyards- some of them were from Alabama,” you told Ellen.
So you decided to find out if you could just open up the rehearsals in Nashville for your concert tour and sell tickets to the public to raise money for the victims. “It turned out that we actually can,” you revealed. So that’s what your going to do!”
Taylor- I’m triply impressed. You actually APPRECIATE your stardom and what it allows you to do. You don’t give a hoot that your photo is taken and that fans find out about your life AND you do care enough about “ordinary” non-celebrities to raise money for tornado victims!
Taylor- I am now officially your #1 fan!
