But Maria has had enough of his womanizing ways!

We’ve come to think of them as an established political couple since Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California in 2003, but his marriage to Maria Shriver goes back to 1986.

Perhaps their history is why Arnold, 63, is trying to woo Maria, 55, back — but she’s not taking the bait due to his bad behavior!

TMZ‘s sources claim that Maria has been unhappy in her marriage for years now, and that toward the end of the marriage, the couple spent “very little time together.” Arnold’s ego and womanizing finally wore down his usually unwavering wife. She famously stood behind him in 2003 after several women came forward to the NY Times with stories of his lewd behavior on movie sets.

Maria began to feel that since Arnold left office and decided to pursue his movie comeback, his behavior had become “unstable.” Her final decision to move out of their shared Brentwood, CA home was one that she labored over because of her religious views.

But now Arnold is said to be “working extremely hard” for Maria’s love, a source said. “He could not be sweeter now that she’s left him.”

Arnold’s even attempted to win Maria back by spending time with her on Easter and Mother’s Day. Perhaps most shocking? The split couple kicked off their 25th anniversary together at an expensive hotel!

It’s nice Arnold’s putting some effort into this, but it seems to be too little too late. If he really was such a womanizing jerk, we hope Maria holds her ground and leaves him!
