Is there something wrong if he isn’t calling you his girlfriend?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are clearly a couple. They kiss, they cuddle, they vacation, they hold hands in public. But after her recent denial of love in Seventeen magazine, he’s now referring to her as his ‘friend.’ Even worse, he claims to be playing the field! What gives?

“She’s one of my best friends,” the 17-year-old singer said of Selena, 18, during an interview with a Kiwi television program. “I think that’s an important thing in my life is dating around and having some sort of a personal life.”

Best friends? Or do you just mean ‘friends with benefits’, Biebs? Either way, Selena is being insulted by her younger man, and she needs to take action immediately!

Unfortunately, there’s really no easy way out with this one. You can’t make a guy start a) looking you in a different light or b) start referring to you as something else unless you broach the topic. So you’re going to have to tell him that it bothers you and ask you what the deal is.

In this case, Justin is probably trying to hold on to some semblance of his singledom, given that his fans haven’t always been fully supportive of the idea that he has a lady love. But saying you’re ‘dating around’ doesn’t leave much room for discussion, and Selena would be right to be hurt, confused and worried about where their relationship is heading.

Sorry, but if it gets this far you’re going to have to talk the talk with your man. You already know it’s bad, so prepare yourself if he feeds you that old line “I’m just not ready for something serious right now” — because you’re probably going to be hearing it!
