Ralph Macchio has a ruptured cyst in the back of his knee, but an insider tells us he’s going to pull it together because he doesn’t want to disappoint his fans! How sweet is that?
Ralph Macchio is going to need your positive thoughts if he’s going to make it through Dancing with the Stars! The 50-year-old actor is suffering from a major knee injury but is pushing through the pain so he can perform May 9. As they say in Hollywood, “The show must go on!”
“Been down this wk dealing w/some serious pain management, but as someone once said “nothing’s gonna ever keep me down” :-)” Ralph tweeted May 8.
On show day he gave fans a more detailed update, writing, “Have missed days of rehearsal this week. Had a ruptured cyst back of my knee causing acute pain. Hoping to be able to perform tonight!”
And, “Will be rough around the edges w/o rehearse time. But performing with @Karina_Smirnoff for u guys is the hi-light of every week. Hangin in!”
HollywoodLife.com chatted with our Dancing with the Stars insider who told us Ralph has the best attitude when it comes to overcoming a game-changing injury such as this one.
“He has been in some very serious pain the last couple days with a knee issue, but he’s also really been a trooper and is looking forward to overcoming it and performing,” our on-set source said. “He is banking on the adrenaline that the performance night brings. He doesn’t want to let anyone (or anything) bring him down.”
Last week, Ralph tied with Hines Ward for the number one spot on the leader board, and our source said he’s determined to stay on top.
“Now that he has something to prove, he’s really confident,” the insider explained.
We’ve loved watching Ralph’s charisma light up the stage this season and hope he pulls through tonight enough to stay in the competition another week!
