Chris Brown’s mom, Joyce, wants her son to openly discuss the domestic assault that happened with Rihanna so he can get on with his life. Do YOU agree?
It’s been more than two years since Chris Brown physically assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna during a fight, but he still refuses to talk about what happened that night. Although he opened up to Larry King once, he’s stayed mum on the subject — and even freaked out at Good Morning America when the topic was brought up. Interestingly enough, his mom, Joyce Hawkins, wishes her 22-year-old son would open up more about Rihanna and thinks it will help him heal.
“I think he really needs to talk about the situation in itself, what actually happened to Rihanna… so that he can get that out for himself,” Joyce told Sister 2 Sister magazine.
“He has to learn to deal with it and go on with his life. This is something that happened; it was a huge mistake… it was not good at all. But he is still a human being and we all make mistakes and we live and we go on with it. But he has to own it, deal with it and move on with his life.”
Chris has made great strides in the eyes of the court throughout the last year — completing an anger management course, following probation and working on his six month community service sentence. However, there’s more to moving on than just jumping through legal hoops. Perhaps his mom is right — maybe Chris needs to talk about what happened and show the world he’s mature enough to face what he did.
