The biggest movie star in the world says she gets nervous trying to please her brood — HollyMoms, can you relate?
Angelina Jolie, 35, may appear to be cool and comfortable with her star status and as confident as any actress in Hollywood — but make her work in front of her kids, and she is just like us!
“They know when Mommy’s funny and when Mommy’s not funny,” she tells USA Today, describing why she got uptight when her kids tagged along to recording sessions for Kung Fu Panda 2, her new animated movie with Jack Black that opens May 26.
Her six kids with Brad Pitt— Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 4, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 2 — were on set with Mom so much they felt like “part agents, part managers,” Angie says.
“They’ll sit in a room and say, ‘That’s just not funny,’ ” she says, which “will keep you competitive, even if they think Jack Black is always cooler than Mom.”
Angie and Brad were concerned that the Panda sequel, which addresses adoption and non-traditional families, would create a problem in a home where half the kids are adopted.
“I wondered how they’d respond to the themes of the film,” Angie. She and Brad were waiting to see if “there was going to be a big discussion that night about adoption and orphanages.”
Turns out, there wasn’t: “But that’s because we talk about those issues at my house all the time, very openly. We’ve had those discussions so often, they’re such happy, wonderful discussions,” Angie says,
Great to hear how the family is getting along so well!
So HollyMoms, does it surprise you that even Angelina is nervous about how her kids react to her work?
