Find out how the ‘Cougar Town’ star and her daughter are bonding over the holiday — and how you can do the same!
Busy Philipps loves Cinco de Mayo. As an Arizona native, she says it was her “favorite holiday” growing up — and now she’s passing her love of the Mexican tradition to her daughter, 2-year-old Birdie! The Cougar Town star, who recently teamed up with Pepto-Bismol to demonstrate creative ways to destroy piñatas, tells HollyBaby.com all about her and Birdie’s plans for Cinco de Mayo this year. And yes, they involve Dora the Explorer.
“We’re making our own piñata together this year,” Busy tells us. “Like, paper maché style, and I’m so excited! … She wants to do something really ambitious like Dora the Explorer, but I think we’ll probably end up making, like, a ball. Just a ball. Because I know how to do that.”
But deciding what kind of piñata to make is the easy part. After that, Busy will be faced with the decision of what to fill it with — and therein lies the problem.
“I’ll try to stuff it more with prizes, but she’s going to want chocolate and candy in there too,” she admits. “So I’ll have to suck it up and let her have a little chocolate.”
But before you go calling Busy a chocolate hater, she’s just doing her part to keep her daughter’s teeth healthy.
“I don’t understand parents who put soda in sippy cups,” she says (and we agree.) “But you try to limit the sugar. You don’t want your kids to get cavities.”
