Kate will have to kiss her husband goodbye as soon as they get back from their honeymoon — William must travel 8,000 miles away to the Falkland Islands to complete his piloting training — and she’s not allowed to go with him!

When Kate Middleton and Prince William return from their 10-day honeymoon — rumored to be on a private island in the Indian Ocean, sometime in the next month — they will reportedly have to say goodbye to each other for a heartbreakingly long 10-weeks as William must report for duty  in the Falkland Isles to finish his helicopter pilot training. William is a flight lieutenant in the RAF’s Search and Rescue squad and air force wives are not allowed to travel to this post, which is 250 miles off the east coast of Argentina.

“It is a bitter blow for Kate,” a source told the UK’s The Sun. “They have known about the Falklands for several weeks, but Kate was very upset when she first heard.”

“It is an awful way to start married life, especially hard because it destroys the first magic of being together,” says the source.

But William, refuses to be treated like royalty at his job. “William could probably pull some strings and get out of going,” says the source. “But he is determined to be treated like any other search and rescue pilot.”

He may be working on moving up his title from co-pilot to official pilot. “William is determined to throw himself into his RAF career,” explains another source. “But he will have to make sure he doesn’t neglect Kate.”

Other sources claim that William may be trying to get enough hours so that he can enter into a combat role. “The accepted feeling is that William wants to be considered for Afghanistan,” says the source. “They may well have to tell him that it is out of the question given his status” — and given heightened international security status sine the United States killed Osama bin Laden on May 1.

Kate and William spent the weekend recovering from their fairy tale wedding in an undisclosed location in England, but this is not the major honeymoon that’s planned for later this month.

The royal couple are said to be planning a trip somewhere tropical, but the location has yet to be revealed — even to Kate — because of security purposes.

Before the wedding, two Scotland Yard protection officers went and checked out the secret destination to make sure that it was safe for the Kate and William.

“It’s one of the most incredible places you will ever visit and Kate will have the time of her life,” a source tells the UK’s Daily Mail. “It’s everything you could want from a honeymoon destination and more – beautiful beaches, tropical seas and complete privacy.”

The couple’s L$4,000 per night private villa — where they will have a private butler attending to their needs — has been booked for their arrival shortly.

William and Kate are scheduled to make their first public appearance together in Canada from June 30 to July 8.
