Ann is likely to move over to the co-host seat beside Matt Lauer as soon as next month!

Ann Curry will step up from Today show newsreader to co-host when Meredith Vieria ends her five-year run, ending an era for the longtime NBC morning program with the promotion of a face that’s very familiar to viewers.

Ann, 54, has been Today‘s newsreader for the past 14 years, so the biggest moneymaker in the network-news business is not expected to miss a beat. She had been touted as a possible replacement for Katie Couric when Katie left Today to anchor the CBS Evening News. The co-host job ultimately went to Meredith.

Now it seems the royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William will be among the last big hurrahs for Meredith, 57, on Today. By all accounts. Meredith’s departure was her own decision and she was not forced out. She also hosts the syndicated Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Natalie Morales, 38, is set to step into Ann’s role, according to a NY Post report. And MSNBC anchor Savannah Guthrie, 39, will be the 9 a.m. anchor, The New York Times reports.

There have been rumors of Meredith’s co-host Matt Lauer, 53, also leaving the show when his contract is up, perhaps to join Katie in a new daytime talk show.

Do you think Ann is the best replacement for Meredith?
