Kate Middleton’s new royal status comes with more than just one name change!
Being a member of the Royal family means carrying titles such as Count or Countess, Duke or Dutchess, Prince or Princess — and if you are Kate Middleton and Prince William, it’s all of the above! Many are wondering the official name Kate has taken now that she has said “I do.”
Prince William’s official surname is Mountbatten-Windsor. Mountbatten is a nod to Queen Elizabeth‘s descendants, while Windsor is from Prince Phillip’s side. After leaving Westminster Abbey, Kate was a Mountbatten-Windsor as well.
However, being a Royal, surnames are only used when formally needed. Now that Kate is a member of the exclusive family, she will only be known as Princess Catherine to the public.
Do YOU think the Royals should use their surnames more often? Sound off in the comments!
