They might be the most famous people in the world right now, but shockingly, an expert says their names don’t seem to be as popular!
The couple everyone has been talking about over the past few months, Prince William and Kate Middleton, have finally tied the knot in the most anticipated event of the year. But, apparently their names aren’t as popular as they are!
BabyCenter, which puts together an annual list of the most popular baby names, is already predicting that the names associated with the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will not reach royal standings this year! The name William already peaked in 2008, while Kate peaked in 2005 — but both have fallen off the name radar since.
While 36 percent of BabyCenter moms say they find inspiration in famous people and characters, most parents want to be original with their baby names. So to be brutally honest, at this point in time, the titles William and Kate/Catherine are not the best choices!
“Take Britney, Madonna, Oprah, or Barack, for example,” Editor-in-Chief of BabyCenter Linda Murray says. “When parents feel a name is owned by one person, they shy away from it for their own child. This could be part of the story for William and Kate. “
But although William and Kate will not be elite names, Linda thinks whatever the newly married couple decide to name their future children will be huge hits among parents! “Those will be the names that start a trend.”
Would you name your child William or Kate?
