Is There A Third Doppelganger On 'The Vampire Diaries?' Nina Dobrev Drops A New Hint!

I’ve long suspected that Elena & Katherine might not be the only doppelgangers out there. Read Nina’s new quote & tell me what you think!

As an admitted Vampire Diaries conspiracy theorist, I find myself reading between the lines quite a bit — which is why I really enjoyed the interview Nina Dobrev just gave April 28 on Live with Regis and Kelly about her dual roles on the show. “Elena‘s your average girl next door,” Nina explained, adding that “she’s the doppelganger of Katherine, who’s the doppelganger of someone else.” (Hmm…)

Granted, Nina admitted she hasn’t been feeling well, so she may not have meant to say what she did… but it still gives me some hope.

What do you think? Could there really be a third doppelganger out there, or am I reading WAY too into Nina’s off-handed remark? Cast your vote and head to the comments section with your thoughts!

r u kidding there is an original then katherine, then elena she is the second doppelganger someone is the one that they look like and the original vampires knew and i think it has something to do with vampires becoming in general!

Pretty sure Rob Lowe could be Damon’s doppelganger!!! And Freddy Prinze Jnr could be Noah’s!!! So many look alikes in this show!!

You guys we’re on the right track here! YES there is a 3rd doppelganger b/c as you guys have pointed out, there has to be an ORIGINAL to make the next doppelgangers, again it’s in the books (but not made as a huge deal) there is a lineage of doppelgangers. CANNOT WAIT FOR VD SEASON FINALE!

How do I say this!! the first person was charlotte and when the cruse was made the doppelganger had to look like her and be the same blood line as her and she turn into a vampire!!!! Then came Katherine and now Elena!!!!!!

Wel, season three was said to be “The Year of the Originals,” so it’s plausible that we will see the “Original Petrova” that was used to bind the curse. I don’t know about a third doppleganger though, but in this show anything is possible.

Elijah said to Katerina when he first met her, that she reminded him of someone. There most certainly is an “original”doppelganger. My guess is this might come out in Season 3, the year of the Originals?

Based on my analysis on the TVD TV Series, I think that the third Nina Dobrev that will appear in the series will be the original Petrova whom both Klaus & Elijah loved in the past.

the third doppelganger is Charlotte Petrova. she was the original doppelganger – who was involved in the sacrifice that created klaus’s curse =) the tv show is NOT exactly the same as the books btw guys!

If you read the books you will know there are a long line of dopplegangers. I don’t want to give any more away… but if you’re desperate to know where the story is going read the books (although the tv version is slightly different.

On 4/21 on that episode, in the flashbacks, I think Elijah had said something about Katherine looking just like someone else as doppelganger-like. And also Elijah had feelings for Katherine in the flashbacks, and that must have been because he had feelings for someone who looked just like Katherine.

Nope,Katherine and Elena are the only two doppelangers but there is still of course,the oringial who appartenly died to seal the curse.

In the show they said Katherine is the original doppleganger, to be a doppleganger there has to be and original person that Katherine looks like!!!!! I figured this out long before Nina said something about it today!

There are 2 doppelgangers of original Petrova.
So Nina thought that Elena is doppelganger of Katherine and she is doppelganger of original Petrova. ;)

there are only 2 doppelgangers, kat and elena. they are the doppelgangers of the original petrova who may even appear in S03 and julie and kevin were thinking of naming her charlotte. that’s it.

There definitely could be another doppelganger, but it’s probably the person that was born before Katherine. Katherine was a doppelganger for someone at the time she was changed to a vamp, so reason would say that there was someone else out there, but whether or not they are alive is unknown. Or rather, undead?! They could be a vamp too…

It wouldn’t be a doppelganger, it would be the original that Katherine and Elena are both doppelgangers of.

But the show mentioned several times before that Katherine was the first dopelganger, so to have a copy you need to have an original one!
