The Bon Jovi guitarist has had a tough year and his band mates fully support his decision to check into a treatment facility.
Richie Sambora, 52, has checked himself into an undisclosed rehab facility, according to RadarOnline.com, and friends of the rocker are citing alcohol and exhaustion. His buddies in Bon Jovi are standing behind his decision and hope he can join them on tour later this month.
“Richie recently has been drinking too much, and wants to get his life together,” a source says. “Richie has had a busy year. I think this was a culmination of all the things that overloaded his life and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself.”
This is Richie’s second time in rehab — he was treated in 2007 at Cirque Lodge in Utah after he and ex-wife Heather Locklear divorced and then he and girlfriend Denise Richards broke up. Together he and Heather have one daughter, Ava, 13 — and they share custody.
Richie is coming off the heels of a very successful tour and he helped Bon Jovi bring in more than $200 million in 2010.
