Authorities have discovered the body of Krista Dittmeyer, whose 14-month-old child was found abandoned in her car.
Devastating news. The body of Maine mother, Krista Dittmeyer, 20, whose 14-month-old daughter Aliyah was found abandoned in her Nissan Sentra on April 23 was found in a pond near the New Hampshire ski resort where her car was discovered.
“We are treating this as a suspicious death,” New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Jane Young tells The Portland Press Herald.
The strange case began when toddler Aliyah was found alone, but unharmed inside the Nissan, which was parked in Conway, N.H., 90 minutes away from Krista’s hometown of Portland, Maine, with the engine running, a door open and the hazard lights flashing.
Police were shocked by the entire situation, unable to believe that Krista would willingly leave her baby daughter or disappear on her own accord. Conway N.H. police Lt. Christopher Perly says there was no evidence that Krista was suicidal or suffering from any sort of mental illness.
There are no suspects in the case, considering there were no witnesses or surveillance video that would leave behind any clues. Police have reportedly brought no one in for questioning yet.
Sad news for Krista’s family and her baby Aliyah. We hope authorities are able to find out more information regarding her death.
