Elizabeth Banks will be donning Effie’s brightly colored wigs for the new Hunger Games movie! Do you think she was the best choice?

The gorgeous Elizabeth Banks and her big, bright smile will be taking on the big screen as Effie in the heavily-anticipated Hunger Games film starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. The actress confirmed the news on her Twitter today and is obviously full of excitement, tweeting Effie quotes in her joy at securing the role. Are you guys as excited as Elizabeth for her big news? Or do you still wish Kristin Chenoweth had received the part?

“Yes! And I can now confirm I’m EFFIE TRINKET in @TheHungerGames. So excited!” tweeted Elizabeth after making fans guess who said the quote, “”I’m smiling at you even though you’re aggravating me.” Elizabeth then tweeted Effie’s famous line that Gale and Katniss often joke about, “May the odds be ever in your favor.”

In the first novel, we are introduced to Effie as she announces the names at the reapings before joining Peeta and Katniss on their journey to the Capitol for the Hunger Games. She’s beyond energetic, very efficient, type-A and wears various wigs throughout the books, starting with pink and moving on to orange and golden-colored locks throughout the trilogy.

Elizabeth definitely has the energy to portray the enthusiastic handler, and the successful funny actress will bring a dose of comedy to the role. Effie means well, even though her emphasis on manners can often irritate Katniss, and we think Elizabeth can also provide some depth to the character who sometimes comes across as fake.

There’s no doubt Elizabeth will do well in the role, but many of you felt strongly that Kristin Chenoweth should play Effie. Do you still wish that were true? Or are you pleased that Elizabeth has scored the role? Sound off below!
