Steve Aoki Brings Down The House With His Funny Props, Tony Fresch Is Named Best College DJ In LA!

Steve Aoki had the most interactive set we’ve ever seen April 26! He shook champagne on the audience, went crowd surfing on a blow up toy and met his doppelganger!

Steve Aoki knows concerts aren’t all about the music — they’re about the fun too! The 33-year-old DJ was the headliner of Musication’s NEON Playground Theme Party and the LA Battle of the DJs at the Avalon Hollywood April 26 — and it’s no wonder he’s popular with college kids.

The electro house musician dropped some of his newer stuff, including his collaboration with Travis Barker (check out the exclusive video) and his single with Sidney Samson, “Wake Up Call,” — but it was his props that really got the young crowd’s attention.

Aoki went through no less than six bottles of champagne, which he’d shake and spray or chug and blow all over the front row. He also threw a cake in a girl’s face, went crowd surfing on a blow up raft and brought a kid on stage who looked IDENTICAL to him.

As far as music was concerned, it was actually USC student DJ Tony Fresch (yes, that’s really his name) who was the stand out of the night. The 20-year-old California-native beat out UCLA’s DJ Mico and Loyola Marymount University’s Doc P to win the coveted title of LA’s Best College DJ — and his set had the whole club dancing. Fresch started his set with with energetic big room house with groovy disco stabs dispersed throughout and finished with flawless dubstep that had everyone’s heads nodding and arms in the air. Even Aoki — who was prepping to spin next — was feeling Tony Fresch’s beats. The famous DJ was sitting on the stage behind T. Fresch grooving along.

All in all, the 1000+ students and electro fans in the audience were in for a treat. Aoki was a great time, plus it’s always refreshing to see young up-and-coming talent give it all they’ve got.
