Women who eat carbohydrate-free diets when pregnant are more likely to bring up overweight children, according to a shocking new study.
Researchers claim unborn babies alter their DNA in the womb – and those starved of carbs (sugars and starches) may learn to store energy in the form of fat. And that could lead to issues after they’re born.
“We have shown for the first time that susceptibility to obesity… can be triggered by influences on a baby’s development in the womb, including what the mother ate,” British scientist Keith Godfrey says.
Godfrey’s team at the University of Southampton tested 300 newborns and found a direct link between a low-carb diet in the womb and childhood obesity at ages six and nine!
These amazing findings could completely change the way pregnant women are advised to eat.

A carbohydrate free diet is not healthy at all, but especially when you are pregnant. Your brain needs glucose and so does your baby. Fruits, milk, starchy vegetables and whole grains are healthy and full of carbohydrates. Everything in moderation.
