Krista Dittmeyer has not been seen since cops discovered her 14-month-old daughter Aliyah in a running car in Conway, New Hampshire on April 23.
Toddler Aliyah was safe and sound inside the car, which was parked near a gym with the engine running, a door open and the hazard lights flashing.
Those who know the mother, Krista Dittmeyer, 20, fear for her safety, insisting she would never willingly leave her daughter. Friend Kathy Pratty tells ABC News, “She would never ever, ever leave her in a car by herself, ever. We know that she would do whatever it takes to be here with her daughter.”
And the police are treating Krista as the victim of a crime, starting their investigation with why she traveled to Conway, a 90 minute drive from her home in Portland, Maine.
Aliyah is being cared for by family members while Krista’s sister Kayla has flown to the scene of her disappearance to help the search effort and make emotional appeal to her missing sibling.
She tells Krista, “Please let us know you’re safe. We need you. Your daughter needs you. We love you, we miss you…just show us a sign that everything’s okay.”
