Happy Earth Day! With all these environmentally-friendly pregnant stars, there’s one big green boom going on!
From Alicia Silverstone to Emily Deschanel, it appears that most of the pregnant women of Hollywood are practicing and showing off their eco-friendly values. And we have no doubt that the babies-to-be will take after their mamas and be the newest celebrity green activists.
The Clueless star is anything BUT clueless when it comes to going green.
She has posed for PETA, is launching her own line of eco-friendly makeup brushes and has just released her book The Kind Diet (which is printed on recycled pages and uses soy ink, of course).
AND on her blog The Kind Life, she has talked about her vegan lifestyle and how she will continue to eat a vegan diet while breastfeeding her soon-to-be baby with husband Chris Jarecki. She also wears secondhand maternity clothes and goes to prenatal yoga classes. Hippie at her best!
A self-professed vegan, who sometimes flops back to vegetarian, will not let her baby (with fiance Benjamin Millepied) touch anything that has come from an animal — whether it be meat or fur.
She launched her own vegan footwear in 2008, judged Project Runway contestants’ “eco-friendly creations” in 2008 and helped out with a meatless challenge on Top Chef! Sounds pretty Green to me! Not to mention she wore a $49.95 eco-friendly dress she wore during awards season.
An avid vegetarian, Pink’s little guy or gal, with hubby Carey Hart, will definitely follow in their mama’s footsteps. And not only does she eat healthily, but she stands up for animal rights.
She posed for PETA and appeared in a anti-fur PSA with Ricky Gervais and a boycott of Australian wool. Does that mean UGG boots?
When her daughter Honor, 2½, was born, Jessica made it clear that she was sleeping in an eco-friendly nursery, complete with organic sheets.
Plus, Jessica admitted, “I drive a Prius and I try to recycle as much as I can. I bought a house, and I’m doing all eco-renovations.” Wow!
Since she was a young girl, Marion has been an active environmentalist, and even got poked fun at for it! But her expectant baby, with boyfriend Guillaume Canet, will have the perfect activist role model to cheer him/her on!
“10 years ago my mind-set wasn’t really normal for most people. I sounded like a crazy person talking about the environment,” she told Interview magazine. “People saw me as a hippie who wanted to make my own cheese and live with animals in a house without electricity.” We think it’s great Marion!
Alyssa, who is expecting her first baby with husband Dave Bugliari, raised more than $90,000 for Charity: Water with the help of her Twitter friends in 2010. Whoa, will her baby-to-be be an environmentalist tweeter too?
Last, but not least, Emily, who just announced she’s expecting a baby with hubby David Hornby, has been an animal activist for years, and even won the Humane Society of the United States’ Humane Advocate Award in 2010!
Hey HollyMoms, have you “gone green?”
