After dramatic back and forth negotiations in the media, Lindsay Lohan is officially acting in the film, ‘Gotti: Three Generations.’ But an insider on the film tells HollywoodLife.com she was never officially cast in the first place and this all started as a ploy for money!

Wherever Lindsay Lohan goes, drama follows. Be it a club appearance, a shopping incident or a film, the 24-year-old actress always manages to stir the pot — and not in a good way. However, an insider on Lindsay’s upcoming film, Gotti: Three Generations tells HollywoodLife.com the producers were only using her for her publicity — and then their rumors turned into their real life nightmare.

“Lindsay was only ever ‘involved’ so the producers could get funding from investors. She wasn’t even actually cast,” our source tells us. “But then after the Gotti’s heard about Lindsay, they got excited and wanted her actually in the movie. Suddenly, they actually had to deal with her.”

The insider adds, “Many of these producers don’t have strong enough resumes to get investor attention without the help of a big name, and Lindsay was accessible to them. Even when they said Lindsay was cut out of the movie, it was just to get more press and interest.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay seems thrilled to be getting back to work, after years of being in the spotlight only for her problems.

“I’m really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do,” she told the AP.

Unfortunately, our insider doesn’t share Lindsay’s positive opinion about the upcoming project.

“This movie has disaster written all over it. Some people think just because John Travolta was cast, it’s going to be good,” the source says, adding, “I mean, have people seen Battlefield Earth? This is going to be a bigger bomb than that!”
