She says Nahla’s well-being has always come first because both parents ‘love her more than life.’
In the wake of her vicious custody battle with baby-daddy Gabriel Aubry, it looks like things have settled down for Halle Berry and her three-year-old daughter Nahla, after the exes reached an amicable custody agreement.
“When there’s a child involved, it’s a relief when you can resolve things in a good way,” Halle, 44, tells Extra. “Our issues were never about fighting for her. We both know a child needs both her parents. But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We needed a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues, and I’m so happy we’ve arrived at that place – because for her sake, this is the best way. We both love her more than life.”
Although it was initially reported she had pulled out of the Broadway production of Mountaintop due to the vicious custody battle, sources close to her tell People it was actually a work conflict.
“She didn’t pull out of the play because of custody issues,” the source says. “She had a conflict of work. Halle was never going for full custody. That wasn’t what it was about. Whatever the outcome, she wasn’t trying for that. There were just other issues that they couldn’t resolve and therefore the courts had to intervene.”
That said, these court battles have taken their toll on the actress.
“It’s been a year full of challenges,” she tells Extra.
We’re so glad Halle and Gabriel have reached an amicable agreement — that’s what’s best for baby Nahla!
