It turns out the ladies of ‘Mob Wives,’ if you can believe it, don’t have the squeakiest clean history — especially Karen!

Of all the women on VH1′s new show Mob Wives, aka The Real Housewives of Staten Island, Karen Gravano tries to present herself as the most removed from the alleged mafia lifestyle. Ironically however, it appears Karen has a very complicated past, and was arrested as part of a massive ecstasy ring in 2000. It appears Karen has managed to get her hands pretty dirty in the past.

According to ABC News, Karen along with her father Sammy, mother Debra and brother Gerard all pleaded guilty to, “conspiracy to sell dangerous drugs, participating in a criminal syndicate and money laundering.” While dad Sammy got 20-years in prison, Karen, 29 at the time, and her mother got off on probation.

Karen’s father moved the family to Arizona as part of the witness protection program, but later came out of it and made himself public — a risky move for sure. The drug ring in Arizona was said to be distributing “30,000 pills a week,” an incredibly high volume.

Karen will likely discuss this, as well as the rest of her truly unique upbringing, in the novel she is working on.
