Natalie nixes her vegan ways to satisfy her crazy pregnancy cravings!
The super-healthy mommy-to-be, Natalie Portman has dropped her strict vegan diet – at least until the baby is born! We’re so shocked about this! She’s been so outspoken about animal rights and veganism!
The 29-year-old actress became a self-proclaimed “vegan activist” back in 2009. But now, she’s switching back to a much simpler vegetarian lifestyle to make room for a more pregnant-friendly appetite.
Natalie told Q100′s The Bert Show on Monday, April 11, that all convictions aside, she mainly made the switch to satisfy her new, sweet tooth cravings.
“If you’re not eating eggs, then you can’t have cookies or cake from regular bakeries, which can become a problem when that’s all you want to eat,” explained the Academy-Award winner.
The Black Swan actress recently launched a new line of eco-friendly vegan shoes with the company Te Casan. Natalie says she’ll probably switch back to her old vegan ways after the baby is born.
Natalie and fiancé, Benjamin Millepied, are expecting their first child later this year.

Natalie Portman is kind of an hypocrit. She might have eaten vegan for a few months, and proclamed herself a “vegan activist” but she is in no way a vegan. And this made this doubt of her real investment in the vegan lifestyle and her convictions.
She says she stopped being a vegan to be able to eat cakes “from regular bakeries”, but tried then to make it sound like she went back vegetarian because it would be healthier to have eggs in her diet. So was it for health reasons or rather for the cakes she used to eat a few months before? If it was about health, then maybe she should have avoided eating so many of these “regular cakes”!
Moreover, to answer the first two comments, if done properly, a vegan pregnancy does not put the baby in danger. You can’t make compare a woman who was not eating vegan properly and who did not listen to the doctor’s advice with the majority of pregnant women or mothers who are vegan and take care that they get all nutrients, as well as their children.
