Russ At 'Idol:' Pia Toscano Was Physically Helped Off Stage After Her Shocking Elimination!

Fri, April 8, 2011 3:09pm EST by 12 Comments

I was in the studio and when fan favorite Pia Toscano was shockingly voted off American Idol, she was physically unable to move!

Stunning looks, stunning voice and a serious contender for the American Idol crown, Pia Toscano was involved in an American Idol elimination that shocked the world — but it was what happened after the cameras went off the air that really was telling! The Idol stage April 7 was filled with so much emotion that you could cut it with a knife.

When Pia finally had the moment to gather herself, she tried desperately to walk off stage, but it was as if she was frozen. Two crew members immediately embraced Pia and helped her off stage as if she was dealing with a horrible leg injury. It was amazing to see this dose of reality…I could tell she really wasn’t expecting her time to end.

Equally shocking was Stefano Langone‘s reaction, as he was dealing with the emotion of being convinced he was being voted off and the emotion of actually staying another week. The crowd audibly booed the decision and chanted, “We will stand by you Pia” and “We love you Pia.” All this fell on deaf ears as Pia was easily in a different world and unable to respond accordingly as her mind was in a virtual haze.

As shocking as this elimination was, I have to wonder if it was for the best. Look what has happened to the careers of Jennifer Hudson or Chris Daughtry, Idols who left before their time. There is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel.

This morning, Jennifer Lopez relived last night for Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show, saying she’s still shocked by what happened. “I told her to stay pure in her heart, to have faith and to know that if this wasn’t the path for her that there was something bigger for her,” J. Lo said. “That there is something bigger for her. And I believe that.”

HollywoodLifers, was last night for the best or did America get things wrong? Sound off below!

I don’t see any talent in these kids at all. They are not the types of performers who can make it big in the real world. They all belong in some coffee shops/bars or if bigger in some theme parks. I don;t see anyone who can headline a concert.

What an outrage! Pia did not deserve to go. I think the voting process has to be revamped…three votes per contestant allowed and a max of 10 votes…that is it! The teeny bopppers; college kids have hijacked the voting and what we get is a popularity contest and it becomes not about talent…They want a rocker to win..that is it. Fortunately Pia will go on to great fame i.e. Jennifer Hudson…she will sell millions of CDs and possibly do movies..so in a way this was good for her because she has people in her corner and their wish for her to succeed. But next year, if they don’t fix the voting; AI will be history.

People in her corner…isn’t that always the way it is. It’s not what you know, it’s WHO you know. There is no such thing as talent. Good voices are a dime a dozen as well as good looks. It’s all about SELLING yourself and the biggest prostitute with the most tricks wins…it’s as simple as that.

Put a real ugly girl up there…that’s who I want to vote for!

Still…the best voice in that competition goes to Hayley.

First off, if she was a “fan favorite” she wouldn’t have been voted off. Second, she was boring as all hell. Yes, she is beautiful and very talented, but she did the same thing week after week and it was dull, lifeless and boring.

Please, Pia had no personality, it was time for her to go. She will probably do well on broadway, but she is not a pop star.
