Fashion’s favorite sisters are at it again — and this time, they want to take over the online shopping world!
Seriously, what haven’t these girls done? Aside from being the most popular (and profitable) child actresses of all time, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have blossomed into full-blown style icons and highly respected designers. In fact, they were nominated last month for a CFDA Swarovski award for new design talent in women’s wear! Their label, The Row, was launched in 2007, and quickly became a celebrity and fashionista favorite. They also have two other reasonably priced lines: Elizabeth and James (named after their siblings), and Olsenboye, which is available exclusively at J.C. Penney. It was no surprise to read that they are expanding their fashion empire even further — to the Internet!
Women’s Wear Daily reports that they are launching StyleMint.com in July, which will bring together social media and online shopping to provide a personalized experience to customers. It will cater to each member’s personal taste, offering monthly clothing recommendations designed by the girls. I’m sure the items will be affordable and chic — the first collection of women’s t-shirts they are designing will retail for $29.99!
This isn’t the first time we have heard of a celebrity taking a dip in the e-commerce pool. Kim Kardashian cofounded ShoeDazzle.com, which, for a monthly fee, provides shoe suggestions to members, who have to fill out a questionnaire to narrow down their personal shoe style.
Personally, I’m more excited to see what the Olsens come up with. While it’s no secret that Kim loves fabulous footwear, Mary-Kate and Ashley have really proven themselves as talented designers. What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to StyleMint.com?
