Russell Crowe is one of the most heralded actors of his generation. From his starmaking turn in L.A. Confidential to his Oscar-nominated role in A Beautiful Mind, Russell thrills audiences with his ability to portray many different types of characters. He’s currently working on the kung-fu flick The Man with the Iron Fist, with RZA, Pam Grier and Lucy Liu.

Russell is married to singer and actress Danielle Spencer and the couple has two sons: seven-year-old Charles “Charlie” Spencer and four-year-old Tennyson Spencer.

The actor was recently inspired to stop smoking because of his kids, the Herald Sun reports.

“[Recently], I leant over to put my cigarette out and [Charlie] was lying between the couch and the table and he very definitely saw me having a smoke. And that was my very last one,” Russell says

We’re so glad Russell quit smoking for his kids and are sure they will help him celebrate his special day. Happy Birthday!
