After months of speculation and weeks of casting rumors, it appears Josh and Liam may have locked up roles in the highly anticipated film!

It looks like the male leads for The Hunger Games may have finally been decided and they are, drumroll please — Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth! Our sister site Deadline reports, “Liam Hemsworth is frontrunner for the role of Gale Hawthorne, and Josh Hutcherson is in the same position for the role of Peeta Mellark.” Interesting.

Both Josh and Liam made it into our HollywoodLife picks for these roles in the film, though neither seem to fit the physical description as described by Suzanne Collins in the book. Peeta is a blond, which is of course an easy fix, and tall, something that may be a problem as Josh and Jennifer Lawrence, who is playing Katniss, are the same height.

Gale meanwhile, with his dark hair and olive skin, seems a bit of a physical stretch for Liam. Given the somewhat offbeat choice of Jennifer however, it seems the producers and director Gary Ross are looking for talent over aesthetics.

This is still unofficial, but what do you think of this development HollywoodLifers?
