Michelle Williams knows how to make her eyes look huge– here are some tips for you to get the same look!

With her short pixie haircut, Michelle Williams‘ eye area is totally emphasized! Though she’s naturally blessed with big, beautiful eyes, she definitely knows how to play them up with the right makeup. At the Cinema Society screening of Meek’s Cutoff on Mar. 28 in New York, Michelle used a hint of shimmer and some low-key liner to achieve a doe-eyed look. Want to steal it for yourself? Check out our tips to find out how:

  • Don’t go overboard with liner! You may think that lining your eyes thickly all the way around will make them look bigger, but in fact it can actually make them look smaller. Try using a gel liner (applied with a brush) to lightly line around the eye. A lighter shade, like gray or brown, is less severe than black. This softens the line and makes your eyes appear less shut-in than a thicker line would!
  • Add shimmer! Don’t be afraid of shimmery shadow– as long as you use it sparingly, it can make your eyes look huge! Try adding it as close to your lash line as possible. This will have the reverse impact of thick liner– it will reflect light and make your eyes look even wider!
  • Keep your lashes natural! With all of the emphasis on false lashes lately, it might seem weird to keep things simple in that area. Yet sometimes, really thick lashes can look too much like a curtain over the eyes, making them look smaller. Try a regular mascara for more natural definition!
