Bonnie Says: Abercrombie & Fitch Is Nuts To Sell Padded Bikini Bras For 8-Year-Olds!

Mon, March 28, 2011 3:28pm EDT by 10 Comments

But any parents who buy them are even more nuts!

Moms, I beg you — do not fall victim to this trend of sexualizing 8-year-olds. It’s bad enough that Abercrombie would even make and sell a padded bikini top — the Ashley triangle — for little girls, but please don’t think it’s cute to put your daughter in a top that makes her look like she has breasts.

Most little girls would be embarassed and horrified anyway, to wear anything that blatantly gave them “boobs.” At 8years-old, they are highly aware that mommies and grown up girls have them, but they are not the least bit comfortable with having a pair themselves. And that’s how it should be.

As a mother of two daughters, I can tell you that a padded bikini top would have been rejected as “gross,” when they were that age,  and if I’d forced either of them to wear one, they would have refused to go out.

Little girls themselves are not ready to be sexualized even if a fashion retailer is pushing the trend.

But maybe Abercrombie won’t go ahead with making this dumb move again — all their Ashley triangle bikini tops are already marked down from $24.50 to $18.38! Yay!

Abercrombie is basically trying to sell those to 11 and 12 year olds not 8 year olds if you have ever been in the store all the models are 11,12,13 not 8

ok so lightly padded bras and bathing suits are okay because sometimes if your in cold water, your nipples will pretty much soak through and make you look gross
but ofcourse buying a padded bra for a mere child is disgusting and gross
all that will provide is more “eye candy” for perverts in the street
all 8 year olds would be disgusted at having “2 large bumps” on their chests when they should be having none !
they should be flat as boards at the age of 8 (unless they go through pubery faster)
i jut know thaat if i wa a mom i would sue AF and i am most likel never goin to buy their merchandise anymore
HELL NO
down with AF!

i am 21 yrs old and i buy my clothes at Abercrombie kids. i wear size 14 jeans from there that are STILL too long. girls are starting to develop earlier anyways. when i was about 10 i would have done ANYTHING to get a top like this to cover up awkward looking boobies while going through puberty!!

There is a difference between light padding to decrease nipples showing and molded padding that looks like budding breasts.

I would let my daughter buy this. I see NOTHING wrong with this. If I was 8, I wouldn’t want anyone to see my nipples by not wearing a padded bikini top.

It seems simple enough…don’t buy them if you don’t like them. There is no such thing as bad publicity…the more media this gets the more attention AF gets…

My opinsion is that a “push up bikini top” as they were advertised as is one thing and a padded bikini top is another. Padding can be a good thing around age 11 to 12 – not to make things look bigger but for the same reason we moms don’t want to have on a unpadded bra in a super cold room! HA!!!

why do 8 year olds need to be sexualized? all that will do is attract pedophiles.

Actually, since pedophiles like little chidren who look like little children then anything you can do to make your kids look older will make them look less attractive to pedos.

For once I agree with Bonnie on something. Padded bikini bras are for teens and adults ONLY. No girl under 14 should be wearing that.
