Listen, Ashley Greene and Joe Jonas — one of Hollywood’s cutest and most-loving couples — have split. And I’m betting that Joe, it’s more your problem than hers!
I’ve met Ashley Greene, 24. She was honored by HollywoodLife.com at our 2010 Young Hollywood Awards, as our “Young Hollywood Style Icon,” on May 13. She couldn’t have been sweeter and more friendly. She was so psyched about getting the award that she actually hopped on a Los Angeles subway to get to our awards after the town car we sent for her got stuck in traffic.
Some Hollywood starlets would have been miffed or in a tizzy about having to hop a subway train. Not Ashley, who thanked us HollywoodLifers profusely on the red carpet and then stayed and chatted at the after-party!
That night was probably the first time Ashley met Joe Jonas, 21, who we were also honoring that evening as “Artist of the Year.” Hmm! So I kind of feel responsible for this couple getting together. That’s why I’m especially disappointed that they’ve split after about eight hot romantic months.
Despite their age gap, they seemed to be so well matched. Joe loves to cook — seriously — and she loved to eat. He followed her to Baton Rouge, La., when she started filming Breaking Dawn and took care of her there. He seemed surprisingly way more mature than the average 21-year-old.
When the pair went out on dates, he was always super-attentive. We saw how he carefully helped her out of her car when the couple had dinner at NYC’s The Lion restaurant on Dec. 16.
The pair were still spotted in major PDA form on Feb. 24 at Urth Cafe in LA. So what went wrong in the last three weeks?
The best hint is what Joe had to say about Ashley in his Details magazine April cover story, which just came out. He talks about Ashley in a way that worried me when I first read it.
“She really puts my feelings first. She understands my busy schedule,” he said. “She’ll fly out to my shows — she’s been to places in South America that I can’t even pronounce.”
He made it sound like it was Ashley who was the giver, the accommodater in the relationship. And like how it HAD to be that way because he was the bigger star. The only problem, Joe, is that Ashley has big demands on her time, too. Her career, including starring in Breaking Dawn, is soaring.
And you know what? In every relationship, both people have to be the stars and to be partners in the romance. Ashley can’t just be a compliant fan, Joe!
So Joe, say this isn’t so. Please say you didn’t expect her to always be at your beck and call. And think about it — you may find other girls who are more willing to worship you like a god. But you won’t find one who is such a great, quality person.
Think about it… and then win her back!
